Any year/Info on this Marin Palisades Trail?

Not one of the proper classics but should do for a beater.

Not even sure of the size yet.

Anyone know the year or links to catalogues etc.

Cheers.

I'm fairly sure it's a '91. My mate had a '90 BITD and the only changes from his were colour matched decals (instead of white) and a slightly darker grey for the frame. ;)

Here are pictures from catalogue 91 and 92 then 93 and 94...

All those cataloque there (and lots of others too!):

Nice find indeed. Here's a page from 91 Marin catalogue.

Anyone know how to replicate the darker grey/green Zolatone paint used on these?

Zolatone is unavailable as far as I know. There are a couple of resto jobs in the readers bikes section where it has been well replicated in conventional paint.

Probably the easiest approach is a matt paint as a final layer. You will need to pain in proper gloss first to get the proper waterproof coating, then rub down and paint matt primer or equivalent.

Leaving in straight primer causes it to rust through.

You could always mix fine sand in with the appropriate colour paint to get the rough feel to it! :p

I would agree with 91 :D

This was my go :

It was never intended to be pure 'exactly as Marin intended' retro more of an 'updated' retro but it actually turned out quite close but a little smoother :D

WD :D
