I was going to say early 70s based on the fact that it has a band-on shifter mount. It was popular in the early 70s to have frames with no braze-ons.

It’s way before my time but I literally had no idea there had been a bike shop in Sydenham, certainly not Roberts in an earlier guise. I’m originally from there. I take it you found this Wikipedia page: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roberts_Cycles

In 1979, Charlie Roberts died unexpectedly, and Chas took over the management of the business. By then, the business had moved from Sydenham to Anerley, South London.

I’d guess they probably stopped using the Sydenham head badge at that point too, so that would put your bike as pre 1979.

Since Roberts Cycles are still going, it might be worth contacting them in case they have any records. Have you found a frame number anywhere on the dropout, bottom bracket, steerer tube etc?

May be on the bottom bracket and the number might be year month frame number: https://www.retrobike.co.uk/threads/roberts-road-bikes.476886/
