Some brands have them in offer in late '80 and '90 but I didnt seen lot of them ridden or showed in forum Are they so inpopular, or just was to expensive for that time?

Hi. This is our Dawes Discovery Twin. It's not exactly retro or a mountain tandem, but it does have 26" wheels and flat bars. Here it is in France last summer, where it put in sterling service getting us to Tour de France stages when the roads were closed to traffic.

Oddly enough, prior to that week I had wanted to replace it, but
we've decided to stick with it. It's a great bike, and not so expensive/valuable that we're paranoid leaving it at the various campsites we visit during the summer.

Not retro, but is awesome!
The missus loves it and is still riding 8-1/2 months pregnant!

Modern brakes and suspension means I wouldn't really want a retro tandem.
