any info on cannondale backroads?

i can't find any info, tried the usual search engines and historic cannondale site. i'm none the wiser! i did read somewhere that it was only in production for 1 year....but what year? i think it may have been a predecessor to the silk road. is it rare? worth keeping? i'm just going out on it's first ride. when i get back....i expect some of these questions answered! ;-) :facepalm:

"Backroads" isn't a model name; Backroads is a travel company that runs organised bike tours in many countries:

The bikes are supplied by various major manufacturers, and have a "Backroads" decal. The fleet is replaced periodically, and the used bikes find their way onto the second-hand market. Friends of mine in Paris had ex-Backroads Cannondale touring bikes.

You should be able to date your frame via the serial number:

mine has http://www.backroads.com decal. so backroads used a standard model, or had bikes specifically built to their requirements?

They may have done both. My friends' bikes were CAAD2 Headshok hybrid frames fitted with drop bars, and I don't believe they corresponded to a particular Cannondale catalogue model. Bicloune in Paris used to sell quite large numbers of these bikes.
