Another day, another Raleigh project

I've just bought this back. I originally acquired it for too much money a year or so ago. It is a Team Replica 12 and from the serial number, its a Worksop frame dated April 1984. Although it looked good in pictures, it had a pretty rough rattle can paint job. I moved it on to a friend last year who has done nothing with it. I've just bought it back for another friend who needs a complete build kit for Eroica. The kit is nothing special but it is complete and very good condition (Shimano Golden Arrow, Weinmann rims, SR bars, stem. seatpost and pedals) but it has left me with a frame that now owes me £100.

I'm thinking as an April '84 frame, it may have been in Panasonic colours originally but I have always wanted a TI Raleigh bike so I'm thinking I may get it refinished and built up as per the original spec: Nuovo Record, Cinelli etc

Definitely go for a proper re spray if your going to put those components on

Having now pulled it apart, the steerer is red and not blue so i think it's the original colours - so that's the colour it will be painted. It may take some time as I've only got some wheels, bars, stem and a front mech so far

We are all drawn to bikes that meant something to us in times gone by... TI Raleigh ticks that box for me.

You never know, 25 years from now, the next gen retrobikers could be renovating Boardmans
