an ordinary is on my list of stupid ideas to build. given that this is the price of one, I think the build idea is the only way I'll ever get one. :)
 
Can’t beat a penny for sheer riding enjoyment. Surprisingly the most comfortable bike I’ve ever ridden. With one revolution of that big fixed wheel you appear to be moving sedately while actually getting up some decent speed. You end up seeing loads more of the countryside from up there too!
 
Penny farthing racing is getting more popular I hear.
It’s certainly entertaining to watch if it’s on a track. I never got to participate in a race, I’d have jumped at the opportunity in my teens. These days I’m much more aware of my own mortality/fear of broken bones!

My Grandad is in the group in the photo below from back in the ‘70s. He was pretty nifty on all types of bicycle in his prime and raced a Penny at Herne Hill a few times.
