AMP B3 x2 = B3x1 + B4x1

This is the Ex Rollodes ex Mudking B3

Back in the day when suspension first came out i was intrigued by The AMP products. I couldn't justify a B3 so just bought some F3 forks and threw those on my Marin. The Marin was treated like an unloved toy for a decade, ridden and not maintained at all, only replacing tyres and tubes when needed. Fast forward to 2011 me and the misses started a lot more cycling mainly along cycle paths and increasing distances. Slowly our bikes starting giving up, years of lack of maintenance and old parts meant we were wearing parts out faster than we could replace them. I bought a new Trek (idiot), but they didnt have her size, so she soldiered on with us stealing parts from the Marin to keep her old Trek roadworthy. In the course of researching where to get some parts i found this website. Realised 1) i had been a muppet for buying the new bike 2) You can (could) still get AMP spares.

I had a plan to rebuild the Marin, and replace all the bushes on my F3. Then got hold of a spare F3 and then i found a B3 frame for sale. I got that in my hands, put the two together and found the medium frame was too small for me :( (hmm more research should have been done) Finally thanks to Rollodes sale I now finally have at last my B3 in large. Only took 19 years.

Only ridden around the garden so far

Re: AMP B3 x2

I need to work out how to post bigger pictures, also stay tuned for the rebuilding of the medium frame, sure to offend a lot of purists

Re: AMP B3 x2

Thanks, a well timed reminder that i took some photos of the other bike.

Hope you are all sitting down, its a mix of old and new.

Seat is jacked right up to fit my Ass, but the bike is for the misses. She has just bought a new road bike :(, but her other ride is a 95 Trek 970 which is fully tricked out with new parts and skinny tyres. Now she has no excuse for not riding on the dirty trails

Re:

As of today the Red AMP still isnt being ridden and I got hold of a B4 frame more suited to my size. So im swapping across all the parts to the B4. then can alternate between B3 and B4.

Also acquired a Risse Genesis shock, same as I'm running on the B3.

I started to reassemble the B4 frame after a stripdown and cleanup and found that the shock just touches the seat post frame. Any flexing and its definitely going to be an issue. Anyone else seen this problem?

Also the Red frame and another set of F3's will be going spare. I'm in UK later this year and could bring over if anyone's interested

Nice. I am going to finish off my second B4 today. I love the B3 in Cherry Red.
The disc post adapter looks fantastic. Did you make it? What about the rear?

B3 here on the forum made up the disc brake adapters.

What shocks are you running on the B4s?

Thanks. I contact B3 and hopefully he will make some more.

I have 2 b4 frames, one early (plain aluminium) and one late (Cherry Red) maybe one of the last. I have F3xc on the early one with rim brakes. The later has F4 on it but the dampers really need rebuilding.
I have made adapters so I can use Avid BB7s, but they are nothing like yours which are very impressive.
I do have an original set of AMP D1 brakes but they need rebuilding which I am in the process of doing.
