Its sad to say but I think Alves Framesets might be finished. Charlie was never a prolific builder but he did good work.

Sad to see yet another british builder turn his torch off again. Perhaps we are all to blame for not supporting our home bred innovators and builders more often.

I understand from contacts in the industry that he has gone to work off shore as the financial rewards better. This is a shame as Charie always seemed happy just to be building great frames, wheels and supporting the cyclist with a huge amount of cycling and componentry knowledge.

If anyone has any contact with him try to persuade him to keep going. Even part time!

That will be why then, not that I have heard of them either!
 
I still have the triathlon cycle I purchased from Charles in 1988, in fact road it to work today because Specialized in for repair!

Shame to hear Alves Framesets no longer producing bicycles, thoroughly pleased with mine :D
