for me it's Giro everytime
i'm a big fan of the Xen
although i have an E2 too
have also had an exodus, hammerhead, supermoto and monza
both excellent fits, both very adjustable and comfortable
with the way the E2 channels air over your head it is actually colder wearing the helmet then not wearing one

I will say, go try them on and don't just buy and hope especially not at the price range you are looking at.

I've tried on various in the Giro range and some fit very nicely, (HEX/ZEN irrc), some don't
I've tried on MET and they seem to fit me better (Veleno and similar), but not all the range do.
Bell were a horrible fit.
Specialised I didn't try, but who makes them for them ?

As FC says try them on if you can, no matter how much you pay if it doesn't; fit your less likely to wear it! It can actually surprise you how much difference there is.

I got a catlike whisper this summer, its ace and fits like beautifully. I wouldnt normally have spent so much ££££ but having tried on a lot, the fit really was a cut above the rest.

To the members who kindly replied...Thanks, i will endeavour to try each of these and the "cats whisper"..dont know if there is a dealer in the sunny south west.
cheers
Ernie ;)

New Specializeds are great, very light (under 200g) and with great cooling. I've got the S-Works model but the new 'Prevail' is even better I heard.

I have two helmets. One, a three year old Bell (can't remember the model) has been good but the tightening mechanism struggled over rough ground and would come lose when fitted with a head torch and batteries.

The second is a Giro Xen. Very comfy but ventilation around the forehead is poor and can be quite sweaty in warmer weather. More worryingly the inner headband/ adjuster pulled out of the helmet when I had a crash which left the main part of the shell flapping about. Another impact could have pushed this into the base of the skull at the rear which can lead to paralysis. The part in question just pushes into the helmet shell and is weak- Jamies helmet has done the same. Not good for such an expensive lid.

just been to Certini's in Plymouth..tried on the S works and the new Prevail..the Prevail seems to have a better fit{i always shave my head.this was a very good fit!!}. Also its got more vents.. "i do sweat like a royal marine in a spelling test"  .In the favour of the S works that had a peak..the Prevail had a more Angular in built peak. The Prevail is £30 more.
Thanks again to all with there advice, i will endeavour to others as well.

Thanks Ernie ;)
