Advice on aluminium polishing please

I'd really like a polished aluminium frame, is it ok strip and polish and leave it bare or will it require a coating of some description?

You can do it but the finish will dull over time so will need to be repolished every now and then. Not a major problem really.

just spend half an hour every couple of weeks giving it a polish up
watch for sweat getting on the top tube on a regular basis tho
it tends to etch the aluminium

it depends also on the base quality of the alloy..if it was never intended to be polished, the alloy might be a bit rough. this was the case with an old aluminium bike i once owned. they also tarnish very quickly...its a real pain to keep the shiny i think. my two cents...leave it painted...
