I have a Pace RC200 which has had a rear disc dropout attached but I'm now fitting v-brakes instead. The frame mounts along the top tube have been filed out to allow for brake hoses, so I'm looking for 2 adapters to allow cable brakes to be fitted.

I have seen these on new bikes before but my local bike shop can't get hold of the adapters as a separate item and they haven't got any in their workshop.

Will I be able to get alloy ones or will the be plastic?

Does anyone have any or know where I might be able to get some?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Why not just run full length outer cables from the lever to the brake? Or am I missing something?

I have currently run outer from lever to brake, but it just looks a bit rubbish as it runs along the side of the top tube and droops a bit. So it's probably more for vanity than any other reason, although there's plenty on this forum who are guilty of bike vanity (me included).

Thanks for the response.

Cable stops

Halfords do some called Brake cable end stops, which are black tapered plastic, these may wedge into the recess as long as they haven't drilled them out too much?

Halfords

TBH my local Halfords are pretty good and all the mechs are fully qualified should you have something dodgy needs a repair, as they have all the top tools on hand. they have re threaded a few forks for me for free. I have also found that if you ask nicely they will give discounts.

cables

Full length outers, give poor gear shifting and spongy brake feel(much more outer to compress) as well as looking untidy and flopping all over the place. Brake only ain't too bad ,but the cables never lie right, scuff the top tube and often give heavy and spongy feel at the levers. If the plastic Halfords ones don't work, try a Trek dealer he should be able to get you some metal Klein cable stop inserts for their internal cable routing that should work.
