missing parts!

building up a '95 Saracen Rufftrax, it's army green with cream tyres - going for a very 'vintage' look basically a cheaper version of the '84 Saracen I've been building up for hmmm about 6 months now.

going through all the brake spares and EVERY SINGLE set of cantis has at least one bit missing

cool! off the top of my head I need an Altus plastic spring housings... I also need a flat washer with a hole that stops the matching drilled cable clamp bolt turning round off a replica early '80s Dia-Compe canti... it also has a section cut off one side to stop the washer itself turning... I guess if I got a washer with the correct hole I could grind off one side a little to create the latter :idea:

right progress... after a few hours :shock: of effort. struck me that I could use one of the washers you get on older rear mechs to replace the part shown in photo above, all I had to do was squash it flat in the vice

I now have (bar springs but I'll sort them) a full set of BR-M650 cantis after thorough sort thru boxes. I got the plastic spring housing off a pair of plastic coated cheap M650 copies works ok tho.

now all I need is a LH Altus canti and I'll have three working alloy sets, plus a nasty black set. the rest will be suitably karma'd as I never want to go in that box again!

Buy more older bikes and you'll have plenty of canti's
