A parts bin sh*tter.

Put a carrier bag over the saddle for added sh***er appeal!

I used to take my bike into the bank (anyone remember those?). Natwest in Taunton was upstairs in the good old days, used to get some funny looks that's for sure.

I'm so looking forward to having a bike that I'm not going to be worrying about every time I leave it locked up. I'll still be pissed off it does get nicked, but nowhere near as much as with my other rides, which will just be used for recreational rides.

It's a shame how bad we have let this country become. Of course there were always thieves, but crime was once at low enough levels so that most were investigated. Now the police just outright say that they don't bother about bike theft. And it's not just locked up bikes that are at risk, there have been several incidents recently where cyclists have been stopped by urban youths on an e-scooter and told to give up their bike at knifepoint.

We're approaching the stage where simply going for a nice ride on a well loved bike becomes a risky endeavor.

Insurance.

Insurance.
I have insurance, but it's not about the money with any of my bikes. It's the bikes themselves.

That's fine with a modern bike bought from a retailer where you're going to get the exact same thing again if you so wish. But these old bikes and the journey we take with them, restoring them, sourcing hard to find parts, tinkering and bringing back to life, putting our own identity into them.

Can't be replaced with a cheque.
