Back in 94 my buddy and his brother were working at one of the high end shops in Toronto. He ordered a new Mud Slinger direct from Jeff Lindsay through the shop. Built it up, rode it for a year or so, then sold it off for the next big thing (cost+ rules).
Fast forward 10 years, his brother found it for sale and picked it up. Had it repainted w. new OEM decals from First Flight, and put all new parts on it. It was one of the projects in progress when he died in 06. Since then it sat in my buddy's laundry room gathering dust (with only so much room, he chose his brother's A la Carte and Phoenix to put on display in the den). Pic stolen from his brother's (retro01) archived MTBR post.
Due to circumstance, I manged to aquire it earlier this year. There were a few things I wanted to change. Can't stand Sinyard, so the tires/seat were replaced with Panaracers/Flite. Ourys are too fat for my fingers, so some Onzas went on. Put on some PD-M730 pedals, replaced some cables, cleaned off the years of dust, and it was done.
Posted pics on Facebook. Got a like from Jeff Lindsay. Made my day.
