93 Klein Rascal

I personally would keep the fork. Its not "too" bad. I would give it another layer of high gloss clear coat. Then the violet will match the rest of the frame way better - you will see!

I would paint a MC1 handle bar system in silver and put the decals on it (if you need some, let me know - see pic below). Then its pretty much original. Which I personally would prefer since this was a very rare / unique KLEIN color scheme that was only available that year and only on the rascal.

Itr is also possible, that this bike actually came with that violet handle bar system. Ive seen more picturews of that at a good google search. And in general, at KLEIN almost anything was possible if you just asked them and ordered the bike the way you wanted! Especially with colors. They were very flexible with special customer needs or desires.

All of their brochures and dealer infos mentioned customer wishes including additional prices

Thanks @fguki
That gives me some food for thought 😁
I think I will probably get it ridable first and see what I think of it before committing to anything paint wise. 👍

I contradicted maself a little bit with the special color in my post but I guess we understand each other :)

That´s my line of thinking. Build it simple w/ good tires and hit the trail. Stem looks a bit too long but then comes the beauty of Rascals; throw any 1in quill stem and tune the fit.

Definitely too long, it'll need a 100mm max and that will still be an inch or so longer than most of my bikes, not really sure how this counted as a small to be honest!

I am thinking 110mm or 120mm w a 22.5in handlebar. Kleins were sized in inches measured center of bb to top of seat tube. Which size is your Rascal?

It's an 18" which according to the 93 catalogue was the smallest size, I'll be going with a 100mm stem and a 600mm bar to start with as that's what I have laying about. 👍 _20230830_210229.JPG

It has a 22in effective top tube w/ a 72.5 seat angle. Your medium Bonty has a 22.6in top tube w/ a 74 seat angle... it has way more front center. You will need a longer stem on the Klein than on the Bonty.
I believe the Klein will be good on technical, steep, slow singletrack. Slow speed balance and control.

I've just done some measuring and it doesn't correspond to that chart at all!
Has a 46cm seat tube but a 592ish effective top tube. God knows what's going on there but it will be getting a shorter stem.
It's probably a tad too big but I'll give it a go, don't know till I try.

Wheelbase length tells the story ime. Since cstays don´t change, front center length sets the size.
