9 Speed Veloce Poor Shifting Question?

After fitting the new correct jockey wheels shifting had not noticeably improved so I took the bike to my LBS.The hanger I'm told and derailleur are perfectly aligned and the derailleur is without any play in the pivots.The feeling was by the guy that the fault lies in the shifter,if this is so it must be the ratchet or ratchets as I have fitted new g springs and spring carrier?Shifting is sweet either side of the middle couple of cogs.Anyway,the shifter has been sent off to the Campy specialists at Chicken Cycles for their appraisal...….

Do the cables have the lever end ferules on them? If not, the levers will suck the cable in slightly, knacker the end over time and the shifting will be woolly and occasionally crunchy. New cables with ferrules will help hugely.

New cables and ferrules,I'm pretty sure it's the shifter ratchet.
