8Freight Cargo bike - restoration / project

I've just been and picked this up.

Pics from the ad below. These are quite flattering, it's in a state, been sat outside for years.



I don't know much about cargo bikes but this struck me as interesting as it's a Mike Burrow's design (hence lefty fork etc!) and this looks to be one of the very early ones which was built in Norfolk before they were manufactured in the Far East.

I am not sure whether to laugh or cry, this is hilariously beautiful. It's got a bloody lefty fork, most absurdist thing I've ever seen. Bike of the Year?

Some photo's when I got it home earlier today. Note: I was particularly chuffed to have fit this in my trusty old Passat estate, the wheelbase is 2m, it's huge!



Initial notes are as follows;

- Wheels both stuck on. Assume it's the drum brakes, but could equally be the bearings which are a cartridge type on these.

- Brakes / drivetrain all completely seized.

- Frame has had a repair to the rear of the loading area

- Plywood "floor" needs replacing and the load "bag" will need a big clean to see how rotten it is.

- Seatpost moves freely!!!!!

I've doused it in plus gas and will aim to make some room in the garage tonight to get it in for a thorough inspection.
