700c wheels on Orange Clockwork '91?

Has anyone tried 700c wheels on an old Clockwork? There appears to be plenty of clearance but maybe issues with brake pad adjustment and rear hub width (I'd like to run a 9-speed cassette)?

26" rim brake wheels are getting increasingly difficult to source and I'd like to make the beast future-proof!

Cheers.

you'd be better off storing a stash of rims to rebuild your current hubs when the time comes. How many sets have you been through so far? that many sets again will keep you going for that long, probably longer given how we all get slower and more risk averse with age

I can assure you there's no shortage of 26" rim brake wheels, there'll still be plenty around long after you've retired ftom mtb riding.

I've tried 700c wheels on a Prestige, they fitted with 25c road tyres on.

The issue will be the brakes. I used an adapter to move the canti brake studs up a bit to reach the 700c rims, otherwise you might find some V-brakes or mini v's will adjust enough to work.
