Hey

I'm looking for a front derailleur for my 1991 bike. I must be 31.8 mm clamp.

I would prefer Shimano 105 (FD-1055) or Shimano 600 FD-6400 from the beginning of the 90's

Any one that can help me?

I think you'll have a very hard time trying to find a front mech from that time period in 31.8mm. That standard didn't come along, or at least become well known and easily available, until later, at least in road bikes. I?ve never seen a 1055 or 6400 in 31.8mm clamp.

You might be better looking for a braze on type and using an adaptor.

what frame is it for?

It is for a Specialized Allez Epic from 1991.

I just had a look of other Allez Epic pictures online and it actually does look like it uses an adapter. Isn't that right:

That explains why I'm having trouble finding it.

Thanks a lot for the help, I will go look for a braze on and adapter.

Is it possible to find adapter from that time period?

yep, the bike in that pic uses an adaptor. you could always use a modern 31.8 mech though, most of them will work fine with older levers. A braze on mech with adaptor would be more period-correct though.
