28h hub ---> 36h rim

Hi there

I was wondering if anyone here has laced one to t'other? I know a friend who did a 32 ---> 36 once.
I really want to use the OE hubs, but finding a 28h rim brake 29er/700c rim wide enough for a 2.1 tyre, is proving a real pain
Any help gratefully received.
