2005 Orange Crush - warning drop bar content

Here is my recent project. A gumtree scavenged orange crush from what I think is around 2005. A brief summary of bits.

Cannondale fatty 700c fork
Hope headset
Xt drivetrain (750/760)
On one midge bars
Sora shifters
Zoom H-100 hydraulic actuated cable discs
Giant bombproof 700c wheels.

Havent actually taken it out for a proper ride yet. The bar tape is temporary until I’ve got the shifts in a comfortable position.
The stem is also temporary until a nice 70mm in black turns up.

A pal of mine did something almost identical with a 2000-ish P7 - worked rather well. I bet the geometry is almost identical.

At first it felt a bit long, but I lowered the seat slightly and it felt much better

I’m hoping to get out in the next few weekends.

I took it to Surrey in riser bar mode and it scared the life out of me!

You've got a lot of layback on that post and as you say it needs a shorter stem - typically also with a fair bit of rise.

I did proper bar tape today, kinesis - jo burt. Orange stem, use carbon post and flite added. It’s more or less complete, could have better pedals though and may drop the granny ring.

That's turned out rather nice! Love the bar tape, might have to get some for my R8. Quite the transformation, and looks quick
