Retro Newbie
Hello all,
I've recently given my Orange P7 a refresh, so I thought was worth posting.
I picked up the frame mid 2019 for £40, and built up the bike from parts I already owned. I used the bike just like that until last week.
After stripping it down I cleaned a few areas bubbling original paint off (metallic turquoise) to inspect the rust damage; I found a couple of pinholes on the underside of the top tube and the rest was solid. I thought it was worth trying to save the frame, so I mig welded and cleaned up the holes.
Following this I dropped the frame off for blasting and powdercoating in RAL 9002 with matt lacquer at LSN Coatings in Castleford.
Fortunately the blasting process didn't unearth any further corrosion, and once collected I coated the inside of the tubes with rust convertor and then Bilt Hamber S50.
I have now built up the frame with some of my original build components, plus a few new(to me) parts such as the Fox Forks (previously Manitou R7's) and M590 cranks (previously more period M571's).
See spec below for the final build, I'll get it weighed in the next week.
