1999 De Kerf Help

So, I've got me a 99 DK Team ST which is running a set of 80mm forks on it, but wanted to see if anyone has a DK Catalogue / Team ST from that year so I can check the Geo and make sure that the 80mm fork is right for it.. Otherwise I'll get some 63mm SIDs..

It probably won't help but I ran some Pace forks - 80mm - on my '97 Generation without any trouble. It's now got, very long, Tuning forks and they handle better/more comy than triple butted Project 2's or some correct length carbon fibre forks it's had on it.
If I hadn't been stupid and put my Solitaire up for sale it would be wearing Salsa Cromoto's off a 29er.

I agree that quoting the head angle in the catalogue, without saying what length of fork it's predicated on, is meaningless and mindless.
Both Marzocchi and Rockshox were moving from 65 to 80mm in 1999 (e.g., the standard Z2 was 65mm, the BAM was 80). If anything, I would back de Kerf to be slightly behind the curve rather than ahead of it, but nevertheless I should have thought the governing factor for you would be the stem you plan to use. If it's a 10 or 11 cm stem, that's probably shorter than the frame was designed for (although again not mentioned in the catalogue). In which case an 80mm fork should be fine. But if you're using a 12 or 13cm stem, I would have thought that argues for a 65mm fork.

As for Anthony's comment above, from Kingroon's bike history here I expect him firmly in the 13cm stem camp. That said, nominal fork travel alone does not make ride height. Many of the common 90's suspension forks were very low on sag (or "negative travel") and the crown geometries varied as well.

I cannot help you with a catalogue build but FWIW my '99? titanium stay Team ST is built with 100mm Pace RC36s. Set-up with a generous 25-30% sag it handles absolutely superb. YMMV

True Story is that the '99 I mention in the original post actually fell through :facepalm: It was an ST, and if I'm honest, woulda been a bit too large for me anyways..

I've since snapped up a DK SS from ackers in a rather BMX like size for me 68mm SIDs, 130mm Salsa, King Nothreadset & SS Wheelset w/ Pythons, THOMSON and Flite.. That's what I'm thinking.. Then maybe throw it around a BMX Track
