B.M.W cashed in on their Olympic partner'ness [They'd previously launched the original- E12- 5 Series to co-incide with the 1972 Olympics, thinking that the Munich games would have positive associations for many people, whoops!] to make the "Official mountainbike of the 1996 Olympics". It was a tarted up version of the Montague/ Rudge Whitworth Bi-Frame folding bike, presumably aimed at blazer wearing referees to pedal about on/ and or gullible people to buy.
I've ridden the Rudge version and it is a reasonable bike for on road but it has no standover height and it has less ground clearance than a miniature Daschund. Not for competitive off road action!
