1996 Marin Hawk Hill workhorse

Really pleased with how it has turned out but in true mama style I think this is as far as I am going to take it - I should probably stop looking once I have a project on the go but you know how it is - there's always something else 🤦‍♀️ It's a cracking little bike which has cleaned up an absolute treat but is a touch newer than I was looking for. I bought my first MTB in 1991 and spent all my spare cash in '92 on purple stuff so looking to go back to my roots . . . watch this space

All good. It just works and serves as it should. Not tricked out or titanium'd up. Refreshing!
And it's been fettled to preserve it, not rot away. If you swap the tyres out, I will take the marin ones of your hands.
Good work!

Thank you 👍 I'll be using the wheels on my next build but the tyres are already sold - sorry. They were in great condition too.

how hard was it to snake those bars through the stem?? I'm hoping to do something similar to my 1991 to get some height

It was pretty easy as they're only 22.2, so just a question of fitting the bars and then sliding the shim in. I have done similar in the past though with 25.4 riser bars using a threaded bolt butted up against a coin to open the stem clamping area 👍
