So I’ve finally managed to track down one of my old bikes! Having sold it in 1996, my ‘95 Stumpy FS Comp has returned!!

My plans are to do a full respray, new decals and as close to the original spec as I can get....now this is where you good people come in...

The colour, in the catalog it’s called purple, but I’ve also seen it referred to as Grape Grunge, to me it was always a nicely odd grey.

Would anyone happen to know the paint code??

She’s seen better days, and will see them again!

Thanks in advance

M

Nice how on earth did you manage to track it down?

Specialized may be able to help with a paint code if not a paintshop may be able to uv scan it

It turned out that the chap I sold it to, still had it...unfortunately my joy is short lived as I just found a rather sizable crack in the drive side chain stay by a weld :(

I’m going to strip all the paint off and have a closer look, I wouldn’t be surprised if there are more cracks.

So what was the final outcome of your stumpjumper....I also have a 95 stumpjumper same color. It's the bike that hooked me into the fun world of revisiting my roots in mtbing...

So, it turned out that the crack was terminal, wall art basically.

After quite a bit of searching I tracked down a replacement frame with zero cracks and better paintwork than my original. I spent the next few months gathering all the parts to build it up as close to catalogue as I could:
