Im currently doing a 1994 Jason McRoy Specialized FSR replica, I was wondering If anyone could shed light on the handlebar he's using? Ive heard everything from Azonic and Tioga to Renthal Mini bars to a Honda bend..

Also trying to locate a set of these tires in photo, they seems a bit different then the standard umma gumma's I've seen?

Any help is appreciated.
Thanks!

Re:

Tyres look like a 2.1" Ritchey Z-Max to me? Can't think of any other tyres from that era that came in that colour.

Can't help you on the handlebars pictured, but think there was a preference for Azonic bars on his bikes the following year.

Maybe there's an alternative way to look at the choice of stem / bars on these FSRs... In my opinion, the front end handling on the '94 and '95 FSRs was/is a far too twitchy. It was ok for XC riding, but for downhill / freeride type stuff the steering was just too fast and the handling needed a bit more stabilty. The OEM titanium stem and a flat bar put too much weight on the front wheel. Handling can definitely be improved by raising the bar a few inches to get your weight a further back and take some load off the front wheel. I think Jason's front end set up in the photo suggests the same thinking/ approach, and maybe the obsure very high rise bar in the picture was him trying to fine tune things to get the ride 'just right' while still using Specialized's S Works Ti stem (and keeping his main sponsor happy)? Maybe the true JMC style of front end set up in 94 was to fit whatever felt (rode) right?

That might not help you if you're trying to do a 100% replica build...

Do you have a build thread?
