Re: 1994 nos Mongoose IBOC Comp STX-SE - PRICE DROP

why is there no reaction to this? just checked Ebay and there are no Mongoose mtbs esp in a condition like this

Re:

Mongoose bikes are not particularly sought after, added to the fact that you are listing it as New Old Stock (NOS) when it is quite clearly used.

Not a bad bike, just not especially special.

Thanks for the feedback
It comes to me now that Mongoose isn't really the buyers' magnet
nos - how is it defined exactly (I use it as there are no scratches, dents etc)
special - for my heart old Mongoose in general is, but I understand it's special in a way that only (select) few are in love :)

Re: 1994 nos Mongoose IBOC Comp STX-SE - PRICE DROP

NOS means 'new' not used ie: something that has been found in a box after 15 years and is totally original. The fact that your bike has been used, and some parts are not original means it does not qualify as NOS.

Some NOS stuff goes for serious money (high end groupset parts especially) so the term has to be used with caution! :)

NOS means what it says, new old stock! a brand new item that is no longer stocked as it is old :) something that is used, no matter how clean or unmarked it is, is USED!

Re: 1994 nos Mongoose IBOC Comp STX-SE - PRICE DROP

NOS if it's indeed "New Old Stock" so never been used. yours would be maximum "like new".

There are a couple of things which contribute to the lack of interest:
- your pricing indicates if this was NOS but clearly isn't
- your country is far away from the bigger markets (UK and Germany) and potential buyers already know how much shipping cost can be for a bike (£50-100)
- the bike itself was not a top-end bike back then, and definitely not a top-end bike now - not even in the Mongoose range.

Re: 1994 Mongoose IBOC Comp STX-SE - PRICE DROP

wow, thanks, really helpful!

I certainly felt/saw a difference between markets i.e. the ones with lesser GDP have another level in terms of what they refer to as top range (top-end for them can mean low-end in other countries), really interesting

thx once again :)

thanks Ade for the insight. I've been using the term nos all the time in a wrong way...
