Dirt Disciple
Dear Folks,
I have a special patient here who needs a new nurse or doctor:
It's a 1994 Diamondback Axis TR (True Temper TT Lite) with a Manitou 3 fork and a Syncros Stem.
Tioga Alchemy Headset - runs a bit edgy. Stem can easily be removed.
Stanchions move freely. The fork certainly needs new elastomers or a set of springs.
1 1/8" steerer and 27,2mm seatpost
TT measures 57cm c-c alongside
ST measures 48cm c-t
So my guess is this is an 18"
I bought this set about 2 months ago and when I had some time cleaning it I, very unfortunately, found a under-lacquer rust pimple.
I scratched it open with my fingernail to find it actually had eaten itself through the entire tube - all whilst sealed under the paint.
There was another pimple that I opened which has corroded into, I say, 1/3 of the tube's wall thickness but not through. Corrosion definitely ate itself through from the outside rather than from the inside. When the pimple with the hole underneath was opened, a lot of rust dust came out of it. I haven't taken the BB out yet, but from what I have seen so far 'only' the chainstay with the hole seems to be affected. I have already posted this in the german IBC forum in order to get advise but the little feedback I received (2 posts) told me to better keep my hands off it, if I want to ride it properly which I actually intended to do. I decided to post this here, since there are more DB lovers present and, maybe, more experience with this type of corrosion. In addition I just have too many other frames & builds at the moment. So...
I want to let this go into better hands.
Ideally someone who repairs it.
The Hole measures 2 x 5mm and has a drop-like shape. (right chainstay, underside) Edges are not porous
Other than that this frame looks alright: No dings or dents and I gave it a first, quick polish.
Because the color of the frame and the fork matches quite nicely I'd prefer to keep this as a set.
I'm asking 75 Euro for the set. Offers are welcomed > PM or email designfriemel(at)hotmail(dot)com
It's situated in Berlin, Germany.
If you think this frame is doomed then it's just the fork and stem.
Any advice concerning the frame and it's condition is much appreciated!

Thx for looking!
