1992 Wheeler 8800 Prestige

Barent

Retro Newbie
Sorry for the poor photos. Just wanted to know if there are other 8800s out there still alive?

Just bought the Wheeler this winter. I've only changed some small parts to get me trough 2014: New XTR pedals, Continental X-King 2.2 tires (probably could fit a 2.4, at least in the front), new chain, used saddle, Elite bottle cages. Otherwise all original, almost complete 3x7speed XT group. Odd seatpost size: 30.0. All chromed, and painted with hideous color. Rear end and the fork left with only chrome. Tange Prestige with lugs! With my nonaccurate scale the whole thing is about 11kg, not too bad.

Haven't had a chance to ride this spring yet because of the snow but I'm hoping to get some miles, occasional racing and really enjoy the ride this summer! Bike looks great and is in good condition. Only the color is a bit too 90s for my taste but I guess I can live with it...

Another Wheeler on Retrobike! That's nice to see. These bikes are very underrated. Have fun with it.
Check out my signature for my Wheeler. By the way from the color and the decals i'd say yours is from 1994, but of course i could be totally wrong. :)

Thanks! There were numbers under the bb that seemed to point to the production year, "92". Can't remember all the exact numbers, and too lazy to check right now! Of course I could be wrong too. Not too much information online, shame.

I think i have the 1994 catalogue around somewhere. But for now i only can show you a page of the 1992 catalouge.

Thanks for the catalogue photos! Interesting...

That 1994 8800 looks like it has an ahead stem with that cool looking bar/stem combo, mine is threaded!

sorry for pulling out this old thread. We do have meanwhile good Wheeler brochures for 1989, 90, 91,92 and 94 but there is an gap for 1993
If you would be able to scan / or do pictures of your 1993 brochure and post them here in the archive we would appreciate your help!
