1992 San Andreas Mountain Cycle

Re:

Not offended at all. :D ..that is what is so interesting about this hobby of ours. I was always geeking about different components in MBA BITD and would always dream of what I would do to each bike should I own it. I was never one for keeping my bike stock and now I get the opportunity to do it :D

Nice! San Andreas in silver and an early one? Cannot beat it....
Yep...still trying to work out how early it is...not one of the very first issue but probably made in '92 . If anybody can work out how to date the early frames.

I think dating the frames is now very difficult as most factory records were lost or destroyed as MC changed hands a few times.

Are you on the Facebook MC groups? There are ex-MC workers on there and sometimes Robert Reisinger too...

Re:

Yeah I am on both sites on Facebook.. Robert has been very helpful in providing seal sizes for my leaking prostops. From other serial numbers on there it was definitely made in 1992 but not sure if it is a 93 model.

That was you asking about Pro-stop seals! He did give loads of info about them.

He seems very glad to see the amount of MC fans there are all around the world.

Re:

Right then before I get lynched

"The caliper piston is 1.125 DIA. The Master piston is 7/16 (0.4375") DIA. The o-ring groove."

"Slave piston U-cup I.D. is 0.875, W= 0.135", the O-ring groove I.D. is 0.945 DIA, W= 0.115".
Master Piston u-cup I.D. = 0.314", w= 0.075". O-ring groove I.D. = 0.258", w = 0.130"
Slave piston has a nominal DIA of 1.125", Master Piston nominal DIA is 7/16 (0.4375") DIA.
This information should make it pretty easy to find U-cup and O-ring seals. If you choose a seal material to withstand DOT brake fluids, you can change over to that oil. Stock ProStop brakes came with Buna-N seals and used mineral oil, silicone-based oils, but did not work with DOT."
