So after 10 years+ of wondering when I would get around to working on my 92 Dyna-tech again & lurking on retrobike, it happened.. we moved to a house with actual space enough to work on some projects...

Potted History....

I'm the original owner of this MT4 which was ordered from Reg Braddicks in Cardiff, I didn't really have enough money after buying the frame to purchase parts for it in a contiguous fashion, some parts were from my previous wheels & other random bits found around Reg Braddicks.

Within a year... I had left home and my life went a bit mad... eventually the bike came back to me full time just before I joined retro bike... around 2014.... the seat stays were a mess most of black sparkly bits had been attacked by the elements... on a positive note the main tubes weren't too terrible..

A Poke In The Eye (how not to restore your bike)

I set about cleaning the paint & rust from lugs and rear triangle whilst slowly collecting parts for the build... during the process, in a momentary lapse of reason I applied a dremmel with the wire brush wheel attachment to the frame without donning the safety specs & manage to catch a patch of rust with the backside of the wheel... Straight in the eye!.. What an idiot!... I spent a very painful night waiting for the eye hospital to open, then the next couple of days visiting the hospital to have the rust removed....

I eventually completed the stripping of the black bits... found what I thought was a reasonable homage to the original black paint in 2K format yay... I applied many coats, started with etch primer, then normal primer... a couple of coats of base black, then the sparkly stuff... finally some lacquer... it looked great... I had a great thought, I'll wrap it in bubble wrap until I'm ready to deal with it.... this was such a bad idea, I hadn't left the paint job long enough to cure. The bubble wrap stuck to everything... what an Idiot... I packed it all away...

Ten years later

The tiny flat has been replaced with a decent size house...I have a shed omg... I have a shed w00t... I end up looking at Retrobike again.. and end up with a white Kona.. thanks @Ackers & quite a lot of the parts to get going.. thanks @Spanky22b I look at the Kona... then I notice the MT4... it whispers to me... "me first"

The paint wasn't as terrible as I had remembered, it was quite some effort with elbow grease & will never win any beauty contests, but it kind of looks ok because you are dazzled with sparkly bits & its helps if you squint a bit lol.
