Thanks M-Power, I should also mention that the Merlin was originally spec'd with a Ritchey Logic fork, which has a rake of 1.75". The IRD fork has a paltry rake of 1.25", which could make for some extra twitchy handling. Luckily the composite fork crown allowed me to slide the fork legs down flush with the top of the crown, as they had been protruding up about 5mm. This gave me a slightly longer axle to crown measurement on the forks, and took a little edge off the front end handling (in theory).

how are you fork legs capped? looks to be countersunk??? :?

I think the fork caps are original, but one has been knocked down below flush. Might have to drill a small hole through a nd work it back up. Or leave it...
