Believed to be a '92 Cinder Cone from the serial no, 26.4 seat tube, Greasesealer bb but just can't be certain as the classy black respray has hidden some clues & the kit isn't original. A few Race Light 1994 stickers applied.
Comes with Rockshox Indy forks from around '97. These work better than expected. Not bad at all.
Mavic 231 rims, 32 d/butted spokes, black LX Parallax hubs
Muddy Fox Griptrax 2.0 front tyre, Ritchey Z Max 2.1 rear (getting low on tread, ok for a while though).
STX 175mm cranks, 24.34,42 SGX rings, cartridge bb.
DX spd pedals (the original Shimano clipless mtb pedal)
DX mechs, long arm rear. Gripshift 8 speed which indexes fine with 7 speed 12-28 cassette.
Alivio v brakeset, M system pads.
100 mm medium rise stem, make not known. Tioga aheadset with DX bottom cup.
Kona 165 bars about 55 cm wide, red Yeti gel grips.
Kalloy Ritchey style seatpost, allen bolt binder, Race Gel saddle.
Options: Sakae Low Fat pedals with clips/straps, DX lo-pro canti's & Dia-Compe pc11 levers (but you'll need to sort cables & rear brake cable stop), Rolls saddle, black bottle cage instead of shiny.
This is a really nice bike but must go to fund a 1993 Explosif project arriving soon, I hope. £150 is probably cheap, not really sure what to ask.
My photo attachment is too big so no pic but could sent anyone interested a pic via email.

It's a size 19 (19" seat tube bb-top of st, 13cm head tube) and I'd say it was 93 or later, as the geometry doesn't look like 92, the seat clamp isn't like the 92 ones and the rack eyes on the seat stays were more towards the top on the 92 ones. If the serial number starts something like H92, the H9 refers to where it was built and the 2 says it was built in 1992 - i.e., it's either a late-production 92 model or an early-production 93. If it's a 93, the c-c tt will be 56.5cm, if it's later than 93 it will be 58cm. Nice looking bike whatever it is!

'92 Cinder Cone

Interesting - thanks. Just checked & it is 19"seat tube (to top of extension) 58 cm (22 3/4") top tube measured on the horizontal, with more like 15 cm head tube. See what you mean about seatpost clamp - earliest ones didn't have a collar according to the catalogue scans.
Serial no is curious though - I can't make out a prefix letter, it's just 24041. So is that a 93/4? The hubs & cranks suggest '94 but what about the grease nipple under the bb?
Whatever, it's a nice riding & looking bike in very good order - doesn't anyone want it? Ebay next stop, although a riding buddy is going to check it out for his brother at week-end.
Jim.

Kona serial no

Sorry, got that wrong it's 2042041 around the edge of bb shell. In middle by cable guide is 4040.

1992 Cinder Cone £150 - now believed to be a '93 or '94

Still for sale, nice bike in excellent condition. Optional alternative brakes, pedals, saddle, bottle cage.
Will Ebay next week to fund next project so get in quick.

'93/4 19" Kona now reduced to £140

Still not got around to ebaying this sweet steel Kona so last go here then definitely listing it. Pic shows it set up for 5'11" rider. Selection of parts on the ground are the options - will swap as required. The paint job is really excellent, not a scratch or chip on it.
Come on, it's steal at this money!
