I think it's time to pass on my Delta V
From what I know, 1992 was the first year the Headshok was introduced and the Delta V 1000 was only second to the 2000 model which was kitted in XT
I personally picked this bike up 2-3 years ago from a chap that used to race on these and if my memory serves me right it was bought as a spare in case anything broke on his race bike. Originally - this bike was sold in High Peak Cyclery in Lake Placid but it made it's way here. Over the years the components were changed out and that's where I got it.
I decided to try and build it back to the original spec. I found the Suntour XC Comp crankset and front derailleur and used XC Pro for the rear derailleur and shifters. It's still on the original Dia Compe brake levers and cantis and still uses the Force 40 system. Wheels wise it had the original "race" Suntour XC Comp front wheel (28 spoke) but I found a matching XC Comp rear with a matching rim too. Again, it has the original bars, stem and seatpost and I've finished it off with a Flite Ti
Suspension wise - the bike came with an upgraded rear shock. A lovely Risse unit that still works. I did buy a seal kit for it but with it holding air I didn't bother breaking it open. That will come with the bike. The headshock unfortunately does not hold air. The dampening dial/lockout if you will does work and does have an affect but if you ride it hard...say in a retro race... it is clunky as it bottoms out.
Another point to add is although it is running on a new chain it is running on a used Suntour 7 speed block. It does pedal around town and down the canals comfortably but it race mode under heavy pedaling it can skip. To counter this I was going to build a new rear wheel with a Hope hub but never got round to it. What I do have though is a matching rim. So I will include that rim and you'll be able to build up a new wheel if needed.
In the pics it's set up for me at 5'9" but I'll measure the frame size when I clean it down and take some better pics.
