I had a very good weekend for vintage bikes. This Stratos is the second bike I got, and I got it from the very excellent forum member Blizz, who was gracious enough to show me his very excellent collection of bikes too.
It's a little scuffed and scratched, but I like patina, and it's not dented or cracked. The fork has a dent though, which looks like it may have come from over tightening a pannier on it. It's the original fork/stem/bar (although the catalog fork doesn't have fender eyelets) but the shifters were replaced at some point, as was the rear rim. It's an RM17 instead of a Wolber.
Back in '93, I had a '91 Nimbus which was stolen from my backyard, so while this isn't nearly the same thing, it's raw aluminium, fat welds, and even the same size too big as my Nimbus. It's given me a pretty happy nostalgic feel already.
And here's my first modification already. This bar comes from an '87 Fisher and it's all kinds of ugly, but it's wide and has tons of backsweep. I was going to put an On One Mary on it, but this old thing is comfy.
Sharp eyes may have already spied my first score of the weekend in these pics...
