1989 Specialized Stumpjumper 1x10 conversion

nagymate

Dirt Disciple
I know its not original, I know the paint is beyond the 'patina' phase, BUT, no rust, no dents, everything is straight and true, and the spec. makes for a functional mix of old and new.

Frame, fork, headset, stem, handlebar, brakes, brake levers and seatpost are original , the rest as follows:
Wheels:
Mavic x221s, Sachs Neos hubs, DT Spokes, Semperit touring tires.

Drivetrain:
Shimano LX Hollowtech cranks, Shimano octalink bb (new), Zee 38t chainring (new)
Shimano Zee shifter, XT Dynasys rear mech
Shimano CNHG95 chain on HG62 11-36 10spd cassette
Flybike pedals, Selle Italia Flite Gel saddle, (or WTB SST X)

The bike was saved from a bike shops junkyard, completely disassembled, cleaned.
All non original parts (except the new ones) came from my garage for an experiment with 1x10 on an old frame.
New cables, housing and tubes were added

The thing works, much better that expected.

Size 20.5, see catalog scan for geometry.

Price: 200 Euros plus shipping.

Custom build options available.

Thanks for reading, any questions, remarks are welcome

Re:

Cool indeed, and something I was thinking of doing as well :)

Out of curiosity was any wheel redishing required to make the 10 speed cassette work? I'm guessing not as the 8 speed sachs hub freewheel should work okay with a 10 speed cassette?
