Finished polishing, and applied decal, as close to the original as possible. Thanks Gil_M! When I was researching this restore, I couldn't believe how many different styles of decals Bradbury used between 1987 and 1990. I've seen at least 4 different fonts used, and various degrees of decal coverage. My bike came with ONE decal! Right where I just plastered this one on tonight. Gil made more for me to use, but I'm hesitant to bedazzle recklessly.
I have the decals I applied in 1988 still on the frame, and I think I have to keep them:
Kodiak Bikes was my bike design company (in my mind). The 'Kodiak' decal was supposed to look like grizzly bear scratches, and the head tube badge like a bear paw...
Raven Racing was my race team (i.e. the guys I hung out and went on rides with)

I've wrestled with that question since getting the frame back. Because I have pictures of my original bike I could probably put it together as it was. But my build wasn't how Doug Bradbury spec'ed the frame, it was just the parts that I had ended up with over time. My Fat Chance was a better example of a parts group that went together as a proper build. I do plan on building it up era correct, and as a rider, not a garage queen. I don't think I'll have anything on it that wasn't available within five years of the original frame vintage.

I do actually have the original Specialized headset, and a Specialized water bottle cage that were on the bike when I first owned it.
A small yet satisfying link to the past.
My biggest regret now is that the Manitou stem is gone, and I have no idea what happened to it. Close to irreplaceable. I have looked into having a machinist replicate the stem, but the lowest quote I found was around $700! But I do have something trick up my sleeve...

As a fan of the Manitou frames myself, this is a great story.
It has re ignited my interest in building my first race bike back up, I only have the frame left hanging in the cave, but it's a start.

Thanks unit3, loved the pics of your build, it helped inspire me as I've been waiting to collect the parts for my build. Just waiting on the wheels now. Finally found the axle I needed for the Bullseye hubs!
