1986 Specialized Stumpjumper

Picked this up recently. It's not the sport model (decal was added for decoration). But still looks smashing. I don't know how far from being 'authentic' it is though. Biopace rings, whitewall tyres etc.? Not that it really matters, but I'm just interested if anybody knows for sure. If I'm going to change it I want it to be the right stuff, or I might just leave it like it is.

Re:

Great pic.

Clearly the tyres aren’t stock but they work for the look.

Very clean.

Nice city cruiser.

Nice bike. Very clean looking.

'Deore' MT-60 didnt appear until the 1987 model year so could have been Deerhead or the non Deore 'Deore' or the then 'New' XT' and would have also been 18spdl

Rear mech looks like the later Deore II (or maybe DX?) to me. But it doesn't really matter - it looks about right, and the slightly later kit is a worthwhile upgrade to gain gear indexing etc. Deerhead stuff is cool, but in use MT60 (on) is much slicker.

Re:

I think it’s accurate - it has the kind of upgrades people would have made at the time, replacement with current kit as the originals wore out.
