1978 Holdsworth Professional

I did regret having to get rid of my other Holdsworth and even more so that it got stripped for parts. :roll: I did think that I might find another frame in my size and could of swapped the parts over, for that reason I had a saved search on eBay which presented me with this opportunity I presented the seller with a offer and 20mins later the deal was done. It will need a repaint as it is well battle scared but I will be keeping the original colour scheme so no kingfisher blue panels. The build spec will be Cinelli Bar and stem Nuovo Record groupset with Mavic G40 rims which are only a couple of years younger.















Already on the way are Pat 78 mechs, seat post, pedals Headset and cable guide. I already have BB hubs and shifters.

Just going to build some wheels now well lace them up at least

Not sue if you are interested, I have a early 70's Italia Sprint frame that I have the bits to make a fixed wheel bike with. Just need to sort the paint work out too. I have tried the Porsche color recommended and it works well where I have tested it on the fork tube. I am thinking of cleaning the frame up first then working on the rusty areas and put a good coat of lacquer on it. Worth a try an see how it goes.

Looks like an interesting project Dave I was told that the 78 pro frames are a darker shade of orange compared to the earlier pro frames.

Yes I think the early shop frames were, but reading the history site I believe they changed once the team started using factory frames. Would be interested in others view of that conclusion.

I can't believe it been over a year since I got this. I dropped it off a Bob Jacksons over 2 months ago but due to a back log only got to pick it up 2 weeks ago and as I've had to move house this hasn't come out of the bubble wrap yet for fear of getting it scratched. I have all the parts assembled for it mostly all 1978 campy record chainrings are super record. The wheels are done with some period specialised turbo tyres which are in surprisingly good nick for 40 odd years old.I hope to progress soon but need to finish getting the garage in order so I have space to work, I'll leave you with one picture as it sits in the dinning rom awaiting its rebirth.

Thanks Shawn I even managed to read the article.

Not only is it back on track Chris I've even managed to bolt on a few parts today after collecting it from my mates shop Had to take it in to get the BB refaced as the locking ring wasn't sitting flush.

I do like a freshly painted frame.
