1973 Speedwell Titanium

Re:

 Blimey, that's nice!
What did one of those cost in 1973 I wonder?

Re:

That's a mighty impressive transformation from the condition it was originally in. Love your work!!

Nice :D :D

Killer chainset :)

We had a Speedwell decalled titanium frame in our shop in the 70's .......£170 rings a bell for the frame but there again my memory isn't what it used to be LOL

Re:

Thanks for the nice comments.

The rear mech is a 1st gen Suntour Cyclone (works great and very light at 175g).

According to the following brochure (see page 3 below), the cost for a polished frame & fork was $575, which was very expensive for the time.

Wow. That is lovely, and some great resto work.

Thanks for posting the catalogue pages too. Would love to know more about this.

.............maybe my memory was of £270 and not £170 for the frame. I used to polish it every few weeks. It had a funny feel, steel always seemed colder than room temperature but Titanium was always warm to the touch. I keep a sneaky eye out for one but know I'll never be brave enough to splash the cash:(
