Hmmmm... not quite flamboyant though. More I think of how I intend to use this bike the more I’m leaning towards black.

That looks very nice and its amazing I thought I sensed one when I logged on today, I can smell a rattle can finish at 50 paces

Also liking @legrandfromage's shiny stuff, my inner magpie is also intrigued as to what its going on?

Cheers Allen, It's a simple/easy option and should have a gold head tube and gold band between the hoops on the seat tube for it to match a factory finish and may well receive them one day, but for now this will do the job :|

As for LGF's trinkets, it would be nice to see him produce a build thread again.

And my two road bikes (‘81 Colstar & ‘54 Jubilee) are definitely not for riding in the wet, not even the moist, so I thought I’d better crack on with this “winter rider”.
As I’d said before it’s getting dressed in predominantly 1980/81 600 ax or arabesque originally planned for the Colstar before I got into the retro-mod thing.
But I have been persuaded over to the dark side regarding shifting so I’m adding 1st generation 6sp 600 SIS from 1986 matched up to some 8sp DuraAce bar end shifters (hopefully they will work) oh & the eagle eyed amongst you might just spot I’m using a UN72 sealed bottom bracket, just for better wet weather use & it’s easier to get the chain line right.

Ok, so this morning’s challenge was to remove the Regina Corsa freewheel, which last night was proving easier said than done. It would have been nice to get this off in one piece as the teeth all looked good and these aren’t cheap on eBay.
Unfortunately it really didn’t want to shift and my Parktool continued to damage the socket gaps (previous owner had already had a crack at it). My next option was to have a go at the retaining plate with a hammer & punch, then clamp what remains in the vice. Unfortunately this means the Regina goes off to the great touring ground in the heavens. Hey ho, it’s the hubs & rims I want/need.
After a clean-up I can see the date codes are March 1980 and the bearing covers don’t have “DuraAce” stamped on them, so we’re looking at 2nd gen “600” HB-6120’s. Still very nice and just right for the group.
