1954 Holdsworth Hurricane

Having inherited another bike which I thought was a Claud Butler and was used by previous owner as a TT/Track bike, I set to stripping it down for a refurb.
With the help of some others on various forums it transpires it is a Holdsworth and not a Claud Butler, still a nice bike but when finished it will go to a friends collection.

Some of the components, Unicantor saddle interesting. Stratalite bars. Leotard pedals.

Close ups of frame, serial number on steerer and rear drop out, fits with 1954 on Holdsworth numbering series. Seat tube was sleeved with brass shim to take unicantor seat post.

After all the investigation it was off the Mario Vaz for a respray In colour I had seen on t’internet.

I wanted to use as many parts that were on the bike, there was one mod needed to get a double on the front. Not for the purists but it what’s I would have done back in the day.

Finished at last, as usual the build threw up a few challenges but hopefully Ralph will be pleased with it.
