Retro Newbie
Hi all. I'm after a 160mm 5 dolt disk rotor that fits on the old hope xc hub. The hub uses a splined braket which the rotor bolts into. I have attached a picture of what it should ruffly lool like. I dont mind if its not wavey.
Can anyone help?
Thanks
Paul

Hi, I'm sorry I can't help you out with a rotor as I run 160's myself. There was a selection of different sized 5 bolt rotors on ebay a couple of weeks ago. Not much use to you now though I'm afraid. I was wondering though do you have the tool for removing the lock ring? I have 1 rear hub hope xc with this splined spider set up but no tool and I want to build it into a new rim. Cheers

I think any 5 bolt rotor will fit, as long as you have the spider to attach to.

As for the lockring, if you don't have the fancy peg spanner, try a strap wrench. You can get them from the pound shop in the tools section and because they're rubber they don't do any damage. ;)

I can get a 185 rotor if that helps? Thanks for the advice on the strap wrench, looking at them online, not sure how I'd manage to use it on the lockring? What's the method? Cheers

The way the strap wrench works is you wrap the rubber around whatever it is you want to tighten/loosen then tuck the rubber into the handle. As you turn the handle, the rubber tightens on itself grabbing whatever's inside.
In this case, your ring.

The only tricky bit is the lock ring is narrow and the strap is about 1 or 2 cm wide, so you'll have to line it up right, but I found it fairly efficient.

Thanks, yeah I got the gist of how the wrench works but I'm impressed you got it to work as the lock ring is reeally narrow. Worth a try I guess for the cost of a cheap tool. Is it normal thread?
