yep used it on my Explosif for the last 9 months.
Shifts well and is reasonably well made - beware though is more of a bronzy colour than silver. for the money not much to whine about (and i do try hard...)

if you want proper silver then :

not had quite as much uses as the 1st cassette but is slightly better made and a tad lighter. Shift performance is the same (as good as an old shimano 7 speed)

Used one around Cannock with no probs other than the same mud issues everyone had

i think it's the winter .. probably.

i did enquire wiht Mr crud about certain retro crud products making a comback (crud claw especially!) but there is not enough demand to warrant the cost. so i'm having to make 6 up for myself as and when....

Basically you're getting an unbranded item that's more than likely made in the same Far Eastern factory as much higher priced 'Branded' items that probably cost the Western Supplier the same prior to Branding/packaging - at the price what is there to complain about?

Interesting item.

So are you saying this is a Shimano item? Any proof?

I'm looking at an Eagle cassette right now and theres not a single marking on it, not even the lock ring.

The shifting pattern is identical to a shimano HG70 cassette.

The chrome is bright, shiny and fairly thick.

Shimano lock rings fit straight on, stick a HG label on it and I doubt many would tell the difference.

Indeed. The Chinese are masters when it comes to copying items.

Would imagine a large corporation like Shimano would have things locked down pretty tight, i.e. not allow unbranded identical items to come out the same factory as their own branded goods.

I dont know, Sunrace and Falcon have been knocking out Shimano copies for decades. BBB also do cassettes now. Even the Suntour brand name is used for shimano compatible cassettes.

I think patents only have a certain amount of shelf life for copyright - look up Lego and their copyright battles with the Chinese, it explains how any company with a decent 'idea' has to fight off all sorts.

heres an STX style Sunrace:
