As in 2x10 cranks on a 9 spd cassette/rear mech/shifters/9spd chain.

I think its all ok but just run it by you all for a check :)

Ta.

Yes, i'm running that on multiple bikes, road and mtb. Even the 9 speed front mech works perfectly.

Cheers for that

Though i think ill have to swop out the rear mech for a shorter cage. Long on a 38t crank :?

Yeah, you'll no need the range of a long cage on a 2x9 system. Not an issue for me, i've avoided long cage mechs since forever.

Mair money :(

Same thing happened when i stupidly bought a pair of 10spd XO shifters.
That bargain became an XO rear mech and cassette , then cranks and front mech

Ah don't worry about it, the long cage will work fine, it's just longer than it needs to be. No need to buy a new one.

My wife has a long cage on her 2x10, works perfectly, bike was originally 3x10. I have a medium cage which works fine on a mish mash on 9 and 10 speed gear built up to do 2x9. That bike was originally 3x9, with the same mech. (It's actually an old XTR so it's pretty much a short cage by todays standards!)
