    '88-'89 Explosif

Re: Kona frames still eluding me Hi Canuck, I'm thinking of selling an 18" Explosif Black 1991 (or possibly '92?) which I bought on here from Alex (retrokona) a couple of years back: http://www.retrobike.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=99481 Condition is unchanged from the pics in the post...

SORTED: 390mm a to c straight forks - THANKS ROJO

Still looking - any P2s with 390-395mm axle to crown will do. Don't care if they look tatty, don't care about the steerer length, so long as they're the right length and TB... Come on chaps - I have more money than sense - part me from it!

    1992 Explosif

P2s? Hey Panda, I have the same bike, but my P2s are too long - what are you doing with yours? Want to sell up? Are they the originals with 395mm a to c? All the best, Jason

    92 Marin Bear Valley

I reckon the shiny seatpost looks great, as does the chainset and new headset.

    Steerer extension / replacement?

Hi all, I've been looking for some P2 forks for a 1992 Explosif, and it seems to me that most of the "correct" forks are threaded and have steerers that are too short for my needs. Please does anyone know a good, and cheap, frame builder or repairer who could graft an extension onto some...

    Kilauea 96

SORTED: 390mm a to c straight forks - THANKS ROJO

Thanks Baj, I wasn't sure about them being alloy and made for trials/jumps. How do they ride? Jason

1992 Explosif - work in progress

No, I have short legs and a long torso, and I like the shape of my testicles just the way they are.

1992 Explosif - work in progress

Haha, You might say that, but it still rides pretty well, and even climbs OK. More to the point it means I can ride for hours at a time without crippling back pain. For that I will endure the hideous spacers and even a fair amount of ridicule

    92 Marin Bear Valley

Nice bike! Mine's an 1992 SE - shown here when I just got it home and fitted some new tyres and LX V brakes.

1992 Explosif - work in progress

I bought this 91-92 Explosif frame from Alex (retrokona) last week. It's my first Kona, and I paid what felt like a stack of cash for it, but the frame is just lovely to ride. I am a totally satisfied customer... It's like the whole frame has built in suspension - my Bear Valley is nice but...

SORTED: 390mm a to c straight forks - THANKS ROJO

Hi there, Calling anyone with some Pace RC30 or Project 2 forks (or similar) with straight blades, 1 1/8" steerer and non suspension corrected for 390mm axle to crown. I need some for a 91-92 Explosif build but want a long steerer if possible: - Threaded with 180mm plus OR -...

    Newbie fork sacrilege

Looks like I'm answering my own post here  Salsa also do the disc only La Cruz cro-mo fork, again quite narrow tyre fitting but is 395mm a to c, and not carbon, which is nice: http://salsacycles.com/components/la_cruz_fork/

Kinesis also do a straight carbon fork at 400mm a to c, the DC19: http://www.kinesisbikes.co.uk/product.php?id=50 Doesn't take very wide tyres though, and I'm not sure how robust it would be... That could be a last resort perhaps - it's also about £120...

    Newbie fork sacrilege

Hi suburbanreuben, Baj's 653s seem to have just been sold, but they would have been perfect for me. http://www.retrobike.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?p=741429#741429 Thanks very much for the tip-off. I'll give it a few more days on the forums and widen my searching away from P2s and Kona...

DynaTech MT4 Ti frame : REDUCED!

A definite yes on the forks if they somehow become available. I'll pay immediately by paypal. Sorry I'm so late in but suburbanreuben just tipped me of: http://www.retrobike.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?p=741425#741425 I need some straight blade 390-395 a to c forks for a 91/92 Explosif, but...

    Newbie fork sacrilege

Hi Andy, I've spotted the Tange switchblade forks and they look just the ticket - do you know how straightforward it would be to fit to a headtube meant for 1 1/8? I think SJS sell shims for the stem/steerer interface, but I'm not sure how I'd manage the headset? The steerer length sounds...

    Newbie fork sacrilege

Hi and thanks for the quick reply. I stressed current because it seems buying a used fork is likely to restrict the length of steerer available, and a current product would avoid that issue. Also because, frankly, I should be riding or working rather than spending time on forums searching...
