    Whyte PRST-4...XTR disc brake conversion

Thank you for the advice. The wheelset is pretty much perfect, runs straight with minimal visible damage. I think the bike has hardly been ridden considering it's age tbh. I am far from a hoarder so will prob sell the existing wheel set and v-brakes when the 'new' setup has bedded in 👍

    Whyte PRST-4...XTR disc brake conversion

Thank you 😀 I will sort out the brakes first (being delivered tomorrow) and then get into the hubs/wheels part of the equation.

    Whyte PRST-4...XTR disc brake conversion

Right then, I've done as suggested. The hubs are XT parallax m737 front and rear and sadly I can't see any rubber covers. If I want to fit discs I expect this 100% means new hubs...which probably for value just means buying a decent used wheelset right? I've got pictures, and also pictures of...

    Whyte PRST-4...XTR disc brake conversion

Wow thanks for the insights and wouldn't it be brilliant if I was lucky enough to find some rubber covers. I'm cycling to the beach tomorrow for some sun and swimming so will have a good look and get some pictures of the hubs and maybe even the rings. The bike seems very low miles, no creaking...

I'll also have a look to see what the existing hubs are...I wonder if they came with the bike when new 🤔

    Whyte PRST-4...XTR disc brake conversion

Thank you. I'll start looking but I'm a one step at a time kinda guy so will.probably get the brakes, understand and rebuild them and then look for wheels 👍 However, if in your online browsing u see any that are perfect and a good price please link me to them..I'm always up for a bargain 🍻

    Whyte PRST-4...XTR disc brake conversion

Thank you. I believe that I have just bought a set of xtr ones on eBay...hydraulic brake lines but cable gear selectors?! TBH I'm curious what will turn up 😂 Either way it will.be a learning experience...which is good because I don't know what a IS-Postmount adaptor is. I will however enjoy...

    Whyte PRST-1 - any information?

Hello. Lovely looking bike there, I do like the prst's. Mine has a rubber boot over the fork linkage as pictured so I can't compare mine to yours...but yours does look to have significant wear. Maybe they all look like this though? I am led to believe that Whyte will replace bearings etc for...

Lol thank you. They are no longer for sale on eBay, I took your very clear advice 😁

    Whyte PRST-4...XTR disc brake conversion

Thank you for the link. They look decent and cheap! I'm going to keep researching a bit longer before I decide...but could probably pick these up regardless and if necessary sell them on without much of a loss, especially if I take better pictures

    Whyte PRST-4...XTR disc brake conversion

Thank you. I want to keep it all matching xtr though...not 100% sure why tbh but it will be easy enough to do so will do it 😁

Sorry for the ignorance but would this allow me to keep the brake lever gear shifting? If so that would be ideal...
