    Thanks Jim, I did find that bolt and after removing it with some hope, pretty much resigned myself the crank removal. You were my last hope. . . Gonna be fun removing my first cotter pin, seventy years waiting, with that chainguard intruding on my violence. Have a peaceful December, Steve

    Short answer question about removing the chainguard: '54 Rudge Sports. Full metal chaIn guard. I have it fully loosened, and removed the plates and the rear tire removal piece. Question: Do I have to remove the crank to get this piece of tin off the bike?
