Tyre Choice to suit Campagnolo Atek Rims

Thanks for all your inputs - I’ve investigated all options suggested, plus several others including various new-old-stock options. It’s good to know that some of you have mounted 2.1” section tyres on Campagnolo Ateks without problem – certainly there are many more options at that width than the...

Tyre Choice to suit Campagnolo Atek Rims

Apologies in advance - this is going to be another one of those “which rim/tyre combination” questions. I’ve come by a pair of new-old-stock 36h Campagnolo Atek 26" XC rims - very light and very narrow (20mm outside, 14mm inside). They’re destined to go on a 90’s Orange and used by an old...

    Mystery Orange Clockwork

Well I’m dead chuffed that I thought I was buying a Clockwork frame that turns out to be a P7! I’ll need to up my game when it comes to selecting componentry for the rebuild - don’t want to let down such a good frame by sticking mediocre bits on it! The catalogue picture provides some...

    Mystery Orange Clockwork

Oh, the joy of data! I spent a happy half hour comparing tube diameters of my C-16R and my ‘Mystery Frame’. Both frames are 19” measured centre-to-top. Measurements were made with vernier calipers and the resulting diameters include paint thicknesses. All dimensions in millimetres. Here are my...

    Mystery Orange Clockwork

More pearls of Orange wisdom, gratefully received! Rooting around in the archive, the description of the ‘97 P7 closely matches my frame, including the externally butted head tube and the diamond bottle cages. As it happens, I also have a C-16R (a back-burner project), so I’ll compare it’s tube...

    Mystery Orange Clockwork

Thanks for all your replies - all very helpful. So, from what FluffyChicken says (great username btw!), it seems like my frame was made in June 97 and the fork in maybe March 98, so the bike is probably going to be 98 model. But the mystery deepens, because yes it has diamond-shaped bottle cage...

    Mystery Orange Clockwork

Good point! Yes, it's A706000437. I thought that the 7 (the first one), might indicate 1997 as the year of manufacture, but the steerer tube is stamped "98 3", possibly indicating Mar 1998?

    Mystery Orange Clockwork

Well maybe not that much of a mystery, since this rather nice frame that I bought on eBay was advertised as an Orange Clockwork. But since it's been stripped of nearly all decals (apart from "AAD Passed" on the downtube and the remnants of the Orange stylised star logo just below the fork...
